Welcome to Raven Heart Tattoo, a custom tattoo studio located in downtown Courtenay, BC on beautiful Vancouver Island. Decades Of Experience Behind The Needle

Clean, Safe, and Professional

At Raven Heart Tattoo, we believe tattoos are a powerful form of self-expression and personal storytelling. Our Courtenay tattoo studio is home to a team of seasoned artists and welcomes both first-time clients and seasoned collectors who are searching for professional tattoo artists in a comfortable and creative environment. Every tattoo is thoughtfully designed and carefully applied so you leave with artwork you’ll be proud to wear for life.

Our licensed artists work in a clean, professional studio using sterile, single-use equipment to ensure the highest standards of safety and care.

If you’re searching for a tattoo artist in Courtenay, BC or a trusted tattoo shop on Vancouver Island, Raven Heart Tattoo is here to transform your ideas into lasting art.

We're an AI-free art studio because we believe the artist should be a part of the creative journey from start to finish. When you choose us as your artist, we hope it's because you trust our style, experience, and vision - and feel that our work is the right fit for you.

We understand AI can make it easier to visualize and communicate an idea, but your words, photo references, and examples of tattoo styles you love are more than enough! This gives us the creative freedom to take your ideas and turn them into something unique, personal, and designed specifically for you.

AI-generated designs can create unrealistic expectations about what will translate well onto skin, and can sometimes can limit the creative possibilities we have as artists.

You chose us because you love what we create - so let us create for you.

Trust your artist, trust our vision and let's make something together.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a tattoo cost?

Tattoo pricing depends on the size, detail, colour, and the artist you book with. Our senior artists price their work per piece, so you’ll receive a custom quote based on your design. Our shop minimum is $150.

Ava works at an hourly rate and will provide a time estimate so you have a general idea of cost, though final pricing may vary slightly depending on the piece. Ava’s current apprentice rate is $100/hour.

Do I need a deposit?

Yes, a deposit is required to secure your appointment. Deposits go toward the final cost of your tattoo and ensure your artist’s time is reserved. They are non-refundable, as your artist begins preparing and designing your custom tattoo in advance. Deposits can be transferred if you need to reschedule with at least 48 hours notice.

Can I bring my own design?

Absolutely. We’re happy to work with your ideas, references, or existing designs. Your artist will collaborate with you to refine the concept and create a custom tattoo that works best for your body and style. Check out how you can prepare and what to bring to your tattoo consult.

When can I see my tattoo design?

Usually at your tattoo appointment. During your consult you'll go over exactly what you do and don't want with your artist. At the beginning of your tattoo appointment, there will be time of go over your design for approval. Learn all about our design process here.

What should I do before/after my appointment?

Before your appointment, make sure you’re well-rested, hydrated, and have eaten. Avoid alcohol the day before and day of your tattoo. Check out more tips on how to prep for your tattoo appointment.

After your appointment, follow our Tattoo Aftercare Guide—following these steps is key to getting the best result. Your artist is always happy to answer any questions that may come up.
